Are you looking for the best Bosch electric or battery hedge trimmer? Find out my opinions, reviews and prices.

Bosch can be considered as one of the most important manufacturers, when it comes to gardening power tools, and its range of electric hedge trimmers confirms it. The well-known German company, in fact, has launched on the market several models of absolute thickness, with a quality serrated sword, all in all light and above all very reliable. It is clear, however, that the characteristics can change depending on the price and type of power supply (battery or wire), so it is very important to deepen the reviews and the general characteristics of these devices.

Features of the Bosch electric hedge trimmer

As I mentioned earlier, nutrition is a key factor to be analyzed right away. In fact, on sale you can find two options: the Bosch battery hedge trimmers and those powered by the classic wire to be attached to a socket (and to an extension). With regard to i petrol hedge trimmer, know that Bosch does not produce any.

  • Battery hedge trimmer: they are ideal if you need to shape hedges in a large and large garden. Not being tied to the wire, they give you infinite leeway and limited only by battery life. In Bosch models the autonomy ranges from 45 minutes to 60 minutes. Finally, there are also the telescopic models.
  • Wire hedge trimmer: they are much more suitable for small garden jobs, and for ornamental pruning of domestic green spaces. They are the most compact and lightest around, but clearly have a limited range of the cable. Anyway, you just need to connect them to an extension cable to solve this problem.

Of course there are other features that make Bosch one of the most important companies in the field of hedge trimmers. I’m talking to you, for example, about the quality of the serrated blade, made of laser-cut and diamond-coated steel, therefore with a remarkable cutting capacity.

Secondly, these appliances are equipped with a powerful motor, with a wattage that can range from 600 to 700 W. In models for hobby use, it is still around 420 watts. In addition, there is the double button start for safety and the handle always has an ergonomic SoftGrip coating, which makes the grip much safer.

Best Bosch electric hedge trimmers

1. Bosch 0600847A00 AHS 45-16 420 Watt (Wire)

Among the best entry-level wire hedge trimmers we find the Bosch AHS 45-16, a rather inexpensive power tool designed for shaping small hedges and green and young bushes. It has a 420 watt high-speed motor and ensures outstanding cutting precision. In addition, it is quite compact, light and comfortable, so it is also ideal for those who have never used one.

  • Power supply: flush
  • Motor power: 420 watts
  • Bar length: 45 cm
  • Cutting thickness: 16 mm
  • Weight: 2.6 kilograms

Let’s move on to the technical characteristics, starting with the blade, with a length of 45 cm and a maximum cutting thickness of 16 mm. In reality it is also suitable for cutting branches with a diameter greater than this value, since I have used it on branches with a thickness of up to 1 cm. Secondly, the Bosch AHS 45-16 has a very low weight (2.6 kilos), so it is very light.

The ergonomic handle is also of excellent quality, making it easier to grip and therefore also to use the hedge trimmer. Then consider that this power tool is well balanced and gives you the opportunity to work for a long time without tiring either your arms or your back. As I anticipated, it has a rather fast blade, considering that the rotation of the toothed chains reaches up to 3,400 revolutions per minute.

Performance is fantastic with young twigs, but clearly it will struggle if you are going to use it for cutting the hardest, most mature twigs. In addition, it is very quiet and has a convenient hook for the cable, so as to minimize its obstruction. I would also like to underline the presence of a 2-button starting system: to use it you will have to use both hands, since if you let go of one of the two buttons, the safety lock is triggered.

  • Economical price
  • Very light and practical to use
  • Effective even on branches with a larger diameter
  • Excellent precision when cutting
  • It produces very little noise
  • Starting with safety system

  • Not very effective against hard and mature branches
  • The double button is uncomfortable when you turn it up a lot

2. Bosch 0600847K00 AHS 70-34 700W (Wire)

From the hobby model we move on to a professional Bosch electric hedge trimmer, probably among the best around. The power supply is flush, it has a very powerful 700 watt motor and the blade has a length of 70 centimeters. Furthermore, it is great against hard and thick branches, considering that the maximum cutting thickness reaches almost 4 centimeters (3.8 to be precise).

  • Power supply: flush
  • Motor power: 700 watts
  • Bar length: 70 cm
  • Cutting thickness: 3.8 cm
  • Weight: 3.8 kilograms

Its high cutting capacity also depends on the special shape of the front teeth, while the blade integrates a protection on the tip. The latter is excellent when, for example, you have to shape hedges near a wall, a floor or a fence. Another good news? The Bosch AHS 70-34 is not overly heavy, as it does not exceed 3.8 kilograms.

The length of the blade allows you to work on hedges up to 2 meters in height, while the diamond blade is very effective and ensures an always clean and clean cut. Also know that this Bosch hedge trimmer has an optimal balance and an ergonomically coated handle: in short, it does not tire the user during use, thus increasing the time you can devote to garden work.

Personally, I struggle to find other hedge trimmers with such power and effectiveness, since it allows you to shape even the branches of medium hardness, especially if you will use the front of the sword. Secondly, the high rotation of the blade (equal to 3,400 revolutions per minute) allows you to speed up the work, while the double safety button prevents any risk, since you have to press both to start it.

  • High power
  • Very high cutting thickness
  • You can go up to 2 meters
  • Excellent against hard branches
  • 2-button safety system
  • Protection for cuts along walls

  • Rather high price
  • The weight could be felt in the long run

3. Bosch 0600847G00 AHS 55-26 600W (Wire)

This Bosch electric hedge trimmer is a semi-professional model: although it does not reach the performance of the AHS 70, in fact, it ensures considerable cutting power, thanks to the bar with double serrated blade. In addition, it has excellent power (600 watts) and the bar has a length of 55 centimeters, while the cutting thickness reaches 2.6 centimeters. And it has the usual 2-button starting system, for use in total safety.

  • Power supply: flush
  • Motor power: 600 watts
  • Bar length: 55 cm
  • Cutting thickness: 2.6 cm
  • Weight: 3.6 kg

The blade also mounts the protection for the shaping of the hedges found along the walls, pavements and sidewalks. As always, the blade is of extreme quality and guarantees remarkable cutting precision, thanks to the diamond ground knives. Despite having a weight of 3.6 kilos (which is not that much), it is very comfortable to use thanks to the handle with ergonomic SoftGrip coating.

The optimization of weight distribution also makes it very comfortable to use, so much so that you can turn or lift it without any difficulty. In terms of agility, you can use the Bosch AHS 55-26 for both horizontal and vertical cuts, without finding yourself uncomfortable. Furthermore, despite having a maximum cutting thickness of 2.6 cm, it actually manages to cut even branches with a diameter of 3 cm without problems.

I repeat that this is not a professional Bosch hedge trimmer, but it is still quite efficient and a step above other models for hobby use. Then consider that this power tool has a not cheap price, but convenient if we compare it to the cost of other hedge trimmers of this level and of competing brands. Bottom line, if you are looking for a reliable and powerful tool, for one use domestic, then you will fall in love with it.

  • Excellent value for money
  • Rather powerful engine
  • Double diamond ground blade
  • Great handling
  • Cut branches up to 3 cm in diameter
  • Also suitable for the less experienced

  • The double button is a little tiring when you go high

4. Bosch 0600847B00 AHS 50-16 450W (Wire)

Let’s take a small step back, and return to a hobby-level electric Bosch hedge trimmer, therefore with a lower price than the others. On a technical level, the Bosch AHS 50-16 has a motor with a power of 450 watts, a bar length of 50 cm and a cutting capacity with a maximum thickness of 1.6 cm. It is also quite light, considering a weight of 2.7 kilograms.

  • Power supply: flush
  • Motor power: 450 watts
  • Bar length: 50 cm
  • Cutting thickness: 1.6 cm
  • Weight: 2.7 kilograms

Due to the length of the bar, and the maximum cutting thickness, it is more suitable for low hedges and for young twigs with a not excessive diameter. For gardens and for domestic use it is the best of the line of this German house, as long as you understand that it pays off especially when you use it for shaping hedges and small bushes. Despite this, the blade is extremely precise and fast (3,400 revolutions per minute).

In terms of handling it is a little gem. In addition to having a low weight, it shares the same characteristics of the Bosch AHS 45-16: it means that it is compact, super manageable and does not tire you if you will use it for a prolonged time. Do not miss the ergonomic SoftGrip handle, very useful for improving comfort during any garden pruning operation.

What are the other peculiarities to underline? The results are truly surprising, especially if we consider a price around 80 euros. However, be aware that it has some limitations, which are completely normal, such as the absence of the protection on the top of the cutter bar. For the rest, it is also ideal for a safety issue, since it can only be started by pressing and holding the 2 buttons.

  • The best for hobby use
  • Always clean and clean cut
  • Lightweight and practical to use
  • Double button protection system
  • Ergonomic SoftGrip handle
  • Perfect for small hedges and bushes

  • Not suitable for hard and thick branches

Models with 50, 60, 65 and 70 centimeters bar are available, and have a more modern structure than the others, but also a higher cost. Other advantages? They are quieter, have a system that reduces vibrations, a bumper mechanism and a more linear design, which improves the visibility of the cutting area.

It has a 45 watt motor, a 43 cm bar length and in maximum extension it can reach 2.6 meters.
